The New Start Treaty

The Obama administration is trying to push through a treaty with Russia that will reduce the number of nuclear weapons each country has. This may sound nice, but a little bit of logic tells us that this will put our national security at risk. Right now we are not enemies with Russia, and we are not worried about them attacking us. On the other hand North Korea and Iran do have nuclear weapons, and we are worried about them attacking us. Who in their right mind would reduce the number of nuclear weapons we have while our enemies are continuing to build more. Obama may think he is making the world a safer place by getting rid of nuclear weapons, which he may in the short term, but in the long run he is really making it more dangerous for America and all of her allies.

  1. Now im all for keeping the bomb around and keeping a bunch of them around just in case. However Russia as you point out is not our enemy nor will a nuclear war end with both sides firing. A country needs a first strike capability which neither of us have so we must remain vigilant and not let them get that over us.

Second I looked up some numbers from the federation of american scientists.
We have about 1968 strategic ready to go missals. It says Russia has about 2600.
Now the new START will limit it to 700. Now im not an expert but Im going to assume that north Korea or Iran has that many. I mean North Korea can barley launch a missal and cant even feed the people their. So ill assume they dont have many. So I think we might have the upper hand. I think that we are better off keeping the deterrent. But investing in the technology to shoot down the missals and that way we can eliminate there option to launch at us.
